The Gordie Howe International Bridge will provide an international crossing from the Southwest Detroit community, Delray, into the Windsor community located in Canada. According to the United States Trading data, "U.S. goods and services trade with Canada totaled an estimated $714.1 billion in 2018. Exports were $360.5 billion; imports were $353.6 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade surplus with Canada was $7.0 billion in 2018." (USTR, 2019) Understanding the financial relationship between Canada and the U.S., the international connection will provide more significant opportunities for economic development at the cost of the environment.

This blog provides a video explaining my research paper which identifies that a community's environmental health is the cost of the success and economic prosperity for the international crossing. This research will introduce the health concerns associated with the increased traffic and how Delray's community will be influenced. This research will present how governmental agencies propose policy solutions for the health concerns in Delray and how Delray will need more state support from Michigan through better ambient air policies despite what is already in place within policy.
